While we’re looking forward to sitting poolside or indulging in an outdoor picnic with loved ones, it’s important to keep your skin sun-safe this summer. We’ve rounded up three easy ways to keep you and your skin safe all summer long!
Did you think we’d forget about SPF? Before applying your makeup or heading out the door - grab your SPF filled moisturizer (like our Daily Moisture SPF 30 Concentrate) and apply a dime-sized amount of product to your skin. Always look for a physical sunscreen with SPF 30 - 50. Physical sunscreens are for all skin types and act like a shield. creating a barrier between your skin and the sun while protecting from both UVA and UVB rays.
P.S. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen to your ears as they are often forgotten, and susceptible to damage too!
What you wear matters. When outdoors, wear an outfit with UPF (ultraviolet protective factor) of 50, which blocks nearly 98 percent of UV rays. Top off your look with a pair of UV sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat. A brim that's at least four inches all the way around protects the scalp and the tops of the ears for an extra layer of protection.
Just like your ears, your lips are susceptible to sun damage and can easily get sunburned. The skin on our lips is very thin and delicate, and will burn easily if the right precautions are not taken. This can turn into a more serious health concern if not looked after properly, in fact, lips are one of the most common places for skin cancer to appear. When heading out the door make sure to apply an SPF lipstick or lip balm (like our Perfect Pout Lipsticks and Perfect Pout Lip Balm) and reapply regularly.
