  • Can I use a beauty oil on my oily, acne prone skin?

    February 17, 2017 2 min read

A big misconception in skincare is that those with oily skin should avoid beauty oils at all costs. We asked Dr. Kaplan whether it is a good idea to incorporate an oil into your skincare routine if you do suffer from oily and acne prone skin.

Dr. Kaplan would not recommend using mineral oil on your skin but he does recommend using the Hydrating Essence. The Hydrating Essence is a luxurious blend of 8 essential oils which work not only to moisturize but to balance your skin. Dr. Kaplan explains that oily skin does not mean it is well hydrated and nourished, your skin can be oily, and lacking hydration.

The combination of precious essential oils found in our Hydrating Essence will nourish, hydrate, and work as an anti-inflammatory for your skin. The oils have multiple benefits for your skin:

Acai Oil: Heals and nourishes the skin with its abundance of Vitamins B1, B2, B3, Vitamin C, and E.

Argan Oil: Fights free radical damage, while soothing and hydrating the skin by restoring the skin’s hydro-lipid layer.

Kukui Oil: Helps with sunburn and dry patchy skin caused my eczema.

Grapeseed oil: Fight free radicals, and helps diminish the sun’s damaging effects on the skin.

Borage oil: Helps to reduce skin redness and inflammation while restoring skin’s moisture content.

Passion Flower Oil: Rich in Vitamin C, calcium and phosphorus. This oil nourishes and hydrates the skin.

Soybean oil: Helps to prevent the development and appearance of wrinkles.

Lavender Essential Oil: Aids in skin healing, soothing, and calming.  Provides wonderful aromatherapy benefits to calm and relax the senses.

Vitamin E: Known for its antioxidant properties, it relieves dryness and promotes healing of the skin. It moisturizes the skin from within. As an antioxidant, it protects against the damaging effects of UV-induced free radicals, thus improving skin elasticity, firmness, and tone.

It is important that you nourish and hydrate your complexion, even if it is oily and acne prone, and a great way to do this is with a balancing, calming beauty oil, like the Hydrating Essence.
